Hi there,
Happy Sunday! Before we head into Week 2 tomorrow, I wanted to pause and reflect on what showed up across Week 1.
First: thank you to everyone who replied for accountability. I read every single response. (I’m still recovering from surgery so I’m not replying right now!)
Here are a few themes that came up again and again:
Defaulting to availability
Saying yes by reflex. Being the first stop for decisions. Protecting everyone else’s momentum at the expense of your own.Carrying more than your role actually requires
Holding context that could be shared. Solving problems “just this once” that quietly become permanent.Avoiding discomfort through over-functioning
Stepping in to prevent tension, slowness, or ambiguity, even when it costs focus or energy.Working reactively instead of intentionally
Days filled with motion, but very little that feels chosen.
If you’re thinking, “Yes, that’s me,” you’re not alone.
And if you’re still unsure what your pattern is, that’s okay too.
As we move into Week 2, you’ll be working with one recurring pattern you’re ready to repeat less. We’re not ending this challenge with this pattern eliminated entirely, but we’re putting together a plan of action to reduce this pattern.
If you didn’t land on a pattern on Friday, here’s your shortcut:
Look back at what you wrote during Week 1. What showed up more than once? What felt familiar in an uncomfortable way?
That’s usually the signal.
Tomorrow, we’ll start getting more specific about how that pattern actually shows up in your day-to-day work, and what it costs when it runs unchecked.
You don’t need a perfect answer. You just need a real one.
See you tomorrow,
Kelly
